Extrusion
Billets are heated to 420–470 °C and dies to 450 °C; the profile leaves the press at over 500 °C. It is then cooled, stretched, cut to the required length and artificially aged to achieve its mechanical properties.
The closer the billet cross-section is to the profile cross-section, the easier the process. Non-standard dimensions are agreed with the customer and increase the cost of the product.
